Liberty Tree Planting at Veterans Park
Tweet
. A native Overcup Oak tree will be planted in the park near the playground and the Veterans Memorial Plaza.
The Liberty Tree Environmental Education Program, or LEEP is a free, service-based community program developed by members of the Cherokee Chapter SAR. The program pays tribute to the historic, economic and cultural heritage of America’s trees and forests. The role of Liberty Trees during the American Revolutionary War period is also explored and discussed.
LEEP is presented to local schools, garden clubs and other interested community groups throughout northwest Georgia. In honor of America’s 250th Anniversary, a goal of planting 76 trees by July 4, 2026 has been set.
