WellStar North Fulton Hospital WellStar North Fulton Hospital is now offering the Know Your Heart program, a screening that can help determine patients risk for heart disease, stroke and other serious conditions. The screening uses a combination of patient history and laboratory tests, as well as an optional cardiac CT scan; these tests can identify heart disease, possibly before someone shows any signs or symptoms. The laboratory tests evaluate for inflammation and cholesterol levels, both of which can contribute to heart disease. The cardiac CT scan is a rapid, low-radiation imaging test that looks for calcium buildup in the walls of the arteries that supply the heart. This calcium is a sign of coronary heart disease; if performed early enough, a cardiac CT scan can help identify disease before a heart attack. Each screening includes a consultation where we give the patient education on how to improve their risk factors going forward, Dr. Anderson said. During the consultation, patients also receive diet and exercise recommendations, as well as a personalized report to take home. The Know Your Heart screening is available to patients eighteen years old and older. To determine eligibility and to schedule an appointment, call 770-756-STAR (7827).

Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce For decades, the Greater North Fulton community has come together with a common goal of quality of life with globally competitive education choices and support for business and job creation. To continue to promote growth and avoid stagnation, the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerces (GNFCC) Talent Coalition is a cross-discipline initiative bringing together education and business to develop workforce strategies that fill the largest skills gaps in the region. The Talent Coalition has identified the top five positions in each vertical of healthcare and technology that are in highest demand, but are also the most difficult to fill with talent. These represent thousands of available jobs in North Fulton. The rate at which business is changing particularly in the technology and healthcare fields is leading to a large disparity between what the U.S. workforce is being trained to do and the job requirements that have emerged over the last thirty years. That gap has widened to the point that its impacting any size business, in nearly every industry, in communities around the country. With laser focus and firm commitment from all parties, together GNFCC plans to continue to make North Fulton a place to live, work and play.
